I started working online and have to take out my own taxes. What percent should I hold back for taxes?

I need to know how much taxes to withhold annually for the state of Kentucky. This should include federal and social security plus state tax. Someone told me to with-hold 30% but that seems a bit much.
So 30% may be a safe bet? Problem is, I am barely making more than a disability check a month so 30% of lets say $600 is gonna hurt like crazy!
